PURPOSE: A network to network interface protocol selecting method of an ATM exchange is provided to easily change a network topology by selectively using a private network to network interface and a broadband-integrated services digital network user part, and quickly processing a call in selecting a protocol corresponding to a transit call. CONSTITUTION: If a subscriber attempts a call, a USCF(User Signaling Control Function) receives the call and requests call translation from an NTCF(Network address Translation Control Function)(40). The NTCF accesses database to translate the call and determine whether it is a local call or a transit call(42). If the translation-requested call is a local call, the NTCF provides the corresponding information to the USCF, so that the USCF controls a switch to process the local call by using an UNI(User Network Interface) protocol(44). If the translation-requested call is a transit call, the NTCF judges which network to network interface protocol a trunk code or an official code of a destination address belongs to(46). If the information received from the NTCF is a private network to network interface, the USCF provides the corresponding information to the private network to network interface, so that the private network to network interface controls the switch to process the transit call by using a private network to network interface protocol(48). If the information received from the NTCF is a broadband-integrated services digital network user part, the USCF provides it to the private network to network interface, so that the private network to network interface controls the switch to process the transit call by using a broadband-integrated services digital network user part protocol(50).
