PURPOSE: A step counting terminal, and diet information service system and method is provided to measure a walking amount, and to offer a diet menu based on the measured walking amount. CONSTITUTION: The terminal comprises an exercise detector(110), a key input device(120), a display(130), a signal transceiver, and a microcomputer(200). The exercise detector(110) senses an exercise amount when a user walks or runs, and converts the sensed exercise amount into electric signals. The display(130) displays the exercise amount and the diet menu data transmitted from a diet information providing server. The signal transceiver transmits or receives the data or voice signal. The microcomputer(200) converts the electric signals, transmitted from the exercise detector(110), into the digital data, compares it with a threshold, calculates an exercise amount, calculates a caloric intake on the day based on the intake input via the key input device(120) by referring to a stored food caloric table, compares the exercise amount with the caloric intake, and displays the exercise effectiveness on the display(130).
