PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable wavelength multiplexing and polarization multiplexing in odd- and even-channel signal light by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The wavelength division multiplexing transmission apparatus is equipped with (n) light sources that generate light with wavelengths λ1, λ2, λ3..., λn (n is an integer of 2 or more) in wavelength order at an equal wavelength interval, (n) optical modulators that modulate light of each wavelength outputted from each light source for generating n-channel signal beams, a wavelength multiplexing means that inputs the n-channel signal light and allows the signal beams (λ, λ3, and the like) of an add channel and signal beams (λ2, λ4, and the like) of an even channel to be subjected to wavelength multiplexing to a different output port, and a polarization multiplexing means that inputs odd-channel wavelength multiplexing signal light and even-channel wavelength multiplexing signal light that are outputted from each output port of the wavelength multiplexing means, and allows polarization to orthogonally cross mutually and to be subjected to the polarization multiplexing for outputting. |
