PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the relation between an input signal and display density to an arbitrary display characteristic. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 100 converts an RGB signal group 12 as an input signal by a gradation conversion processing means 5 according to a specified conversion characteristic. Consequently, a digital RGB signal group 13 as a converted signal is generated. A liquid crystal panel 6 receives the RGB signal group 13 and makes a display with display density based upon a characteristic element characteristic. A characteristic of display density for the input signal is grasped as a display characteristic. According to a 1st conversion characteristic represented by a function (f), a 1st conversion characteristic P is set first. Then, a 2nd conversion characteristic Q for obtaining a 2nd display characteristic represented by a function (g) is found as a composite function P.f<-1> .g. Once the 1st display characteristic (f) and the 1st conversion characteristic P are set, neither the element characteristic nor the display density is needed to find the 2nd conversion characteristic Q. |
