PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a residual capacity (self discharged capacity) of a ready- to-use lead-acid battery having electrolyte liquid. SOLUTION: For a residual capacity estimation method for a ready-to-use lead-acid battery of which, electrolyte liquid is removed after chemical formation and injecting before use, an open circuit voltage is measured before injecting electrolyte liquid, and a residual capacity is estimated from the open circuit voltage depending on the pre-determined correlative relation between open circuit voltage and residual capacity.
