PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that a specific image cannot be recognized because a load for processing is too large in the case of performing image processing of the whole screen and only a part of a road mark is photographed in the case of being adjacent to a precedent vehicle when photographing the surrounding area with an on-vehicle camera and recognizing a specific image such as the road mark. SOLUTION: A moving image photographed by an on-vehicle CCD camera 1 is made to be a frame image by an image processing basic part 2, and an image dividing part 3 sets only a part of image range part and extracts a prescribed image photographed to the part is extracted to be an image part. A plurality of images of this part are gathered and composited to be an intermediate image 5 and compared with data of the specific image in a template database 6 by the recognition finishing part 7 of an image recognition part 8. When coincident data is found, recognition is finished and this is outputted as the result of recognition. It is possible to specify a part of a photographed image by a time when a prescribed image is detected, a time when the image is varied and a velocity and to compare it with the data in the database for recognition without compositing the images. |
