PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a light emitting element and a display unit each having a small area and a low resistance in small man-hour. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the light emitting element comprises the steps of forming a mask layer 43 having an opening 43a on a substrate 31, then performing an element release expediting process such as generation of a void 60 in the opening 43a by heat treating, crystal growing, for example, a gallium nitride layer 12 on the void 60, and releasing the crystal layer 12 by an impact force to the void 60 by irradiating the layer 12 with a laser beam 66, thereby manufacturing the light emitting element 62. Further, the method for manufacturing the display unit comprises the steps of embedding the element 62 obtained by the release in an insulating layer 39, forming electrode pads 68d, 69d connected to the element 62 on the layer 39, then manufacturing the light emitting element unit 70 including the pads by dicing, fixedly connecting the unit 70 to the drive circuit board 50, thereby manufacturing the display unit. |
