PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine having a function of reading font data described on a mark sheet and registering the data to a memory so as to extend the available fonts. SOLUTION: In the facsimile machine 1, a read section 4 reads an image of an original, the facsimile machine 1 faxes the image, a print section 9 prints out received image on recording paper, the facsimile machine 1 displays characters such as letters on the basis of font data stored in a storage section 6, when the print section 9 prints out various reports on recording paper, the read section 4 reads the mark sheet 20 on which character fonts are described, a generating section 5 generates the font data from the fonts read by the read section 4, and stores the data to the readable and writable storage section 6. Thus, a user can properly add its intended character font to the original font and registers the font to the storage section 6, and the facsimile machine can properly cope with diversified requirements with respect to the character fonts.
