PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control valve-type lead-acid battery of light weight, having superior high rate discharging characteristic. SOLUTION: The pasted active material for a negative electrode is prepared by kneading lead powder and dilute sulfuric acid and the like, and a hollow polyester fiber having an average fiber diameter of 10μm or more is added to the lead powder by 0.2-2 mass %, and kneaded again. The pasted active material for the negative electrode including the hollow fiber is packed in a lattice body made of lead alloy, and aged and dried to manufacture a pate-type negative electrode plate, and this control valve-type lead-acid battery is manufactured by using the plate-type negative electrode plate.
