METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROCESSING PROTEINS IN GELS

The invention relates to a method for processing proteins in gels, according to which gel fragments containing proteins are isolated from the gel, subjected to a proteolytic digestion and the cleavage peptides thus obtained are identified. The isolated protein-gel fragments are transferred to a corresponding number of reaction vessels of a first microtitre plate (filter plate), the bases of the reaction vessels of the microtitre plate being configured as hydrophobic filter membranes and the protein-gel fragments are washed and incubated with the protease solution, whereby after each step the respective solution is siphoned off through the filter membrane. The first microtitre plate is subsequently positioned above a second microtitre plate (collection plate), the reaction vessels of said second microtitre plate having conical bases and consisting of a material that does not adsorb peptides. The peptides that are attached to the filter membranes of the first microtitre plate are then eluted and concentrated using a hydrophobic washing solution by exerting a pressure in the reaction vessels of the second microtitre plate.
