OPTICAL RECORD MEDIUM AND METHOD FOR RECORDING INFORMATION ON OPTICAL RECORD MEDIUM

A method for recording information on an optical record medium suitable to realize a high data transfer rate. This method for recording information is used to record information on an optical record medium by marking the optical record medium with record marks selected from a group consisting of a plurality of kinds of record marks with different lengths. The basic power of a laser beam used to form at least one record mark included in the group is set higher than the reproduction power of a laser beam used for reproduction to record the information. This method ensures a sufficient erase rate even in recording by setting a high data transfer rate because erasure is assisted by a prescribed power.
