PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a rack guide for a rackpinion type steering gear in which the weight and the cost can be reduced, the mechanical strength is high, the sliding friction resistance can be reduced in the slide of a rack bar, any adverse effect by the temperature can be reduced, any causes of abnormal noise is eliminated by the smoothly guided movement to a casing, and the steering operation is smooth. SOLUTION: A rack guide 21 comprises a plate-like member 25 having a metal backing layer 22, a porous sintered metal layer 23 baked on one side of the backing layer 22 and a synthetic resin layer 24 with self lubricity which is partially impregnated in the porous sintered metal layer 23 and covers the porous sintered metal layer 23, a hollow rack guide body 26 which is formed with the synthetic resin layer 24 outside, and a reinforcement body 27 which is separate from the rack guide body 26 to reinforce the rack guide body 26.
