PURPOSE: A cap assembly and a prismatic secondary battery provided with the cap assembly are provided, to reduce the inferior product by enabling a charge/discharge pin to be contact with the contact part of an insert washer having a large area. CONSTITUTION: The cap assembly comprises a cap plate(31) having an insertion hole; a hollow insulation tube(32) inserted into the insertion hole of the cap plate; a pin(33) inserted into the insulation tube; an insulation plate(34) arranged at the lower part of the cap plate; and an insert washer(41) comprising a conductive metal piece which is exposed partially and is connected with the pin electrically and an insulating plastic which surrounds the conductive metal piece. Preferably some of the conductive metal piece is exposed at the lower part of the insert washer to enable the metal piece to be weld to the head of the pin, and some of the conductive metal piece is exposed at the higher part of the insert washer to enable the metal piece to be contact with a charging/discharging pin. The area of the conductive metal piece exposed at the upper side of the insert washer is larger than the head area of the pin.
