PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a roll for continuous casting, excellent in a crack resistance in which the occurrence of the crack caused by heat stress is restrained by reducing the load of heat inlet from a cast slab and the progress of the sharp crack is restrained by beforehand forming fine rugged pattern on the surface of the roll barrel part and thus the service life of the roll can be extended. SOLUTION: After forming almost rhombus-like rugged pattern or helical-like rugged pattern avoiding the peripheral direction with grooves having 0.5-3 mm pitch and 0.2-3 mm depth by knurl-working on the surface of the roll barrel part, ceramics or glass thermal-sprayed fused layer is arranged on this surface of the roll barrel part. |
