PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stirring and joining device which can perform the friction stirring and spot welding free from any practical problem with a simple control. SOLUTION: A spot welding gun 20 rotates a rotor 22 by a motor 25 for rotation, and drives the rotor straight by a motor 24 for straight motion. The motor 25 for rotation is controlled by a rotation control unit 12, and the motor 24 for straight motion is controlled by a straight motion control unit 11. The spot welding is performed by pressing a tip of the rotor against a work while rotating the rotor 22. The rotation of the rotor 22 is changed in the rotational speed in three stages, i.e., at a high speed in the initial rotation range, a low speed in the middle range, and a high speed in the final range by the rotation control unit 12. When the rotor 22 is moved straight, the speed of the straight motion of the rotor 22 is controlled by the triangular wave-shaped speed command value having an inclined portion increasing as the elapse of time, the rotor 22 is prevented from being rapidly collided with the work and oscillated, and the friction stirring and welding is correctly performed.
