PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide of high quality which is advantageous in terms of cost and environment-friendly due to a simplified manufacturing process. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide and the method for manufacturing the waveguide are characterized by the face that the optical waveguide is provided with a base plate 1, a photocatalyst-incorporated layer 2 which is formed on the base plate 1, the wettability of which varies so that the contact angle with liquid decreases by energy irradiation and which is composed of at least a photocatalyst and a binder, a core layer 4 formed on the photocatalyst- incorporated layer 2 in a pattern and an upper clad layer 5 formed on the photocatalyst-incorporated layer 2 so as to cover the core layer 4. |
