PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector by which a target buried object can be detected with satisfactory accuracy, irrespective of a material for the target buried object. SOLUTION: The detector is composed of a capacitance sensor 29, which is attached to a board 27 facing the ground and which detects changes in the capacitance in the ground, a reference-value storage means 65 by which a reference capacitanceε2 is stored in advance, according to a changeε1 in the capacitance when there is no target buried object in the ground, a computing means 65 by which a detected changeεs in the capacitance is compared with the stored capacitanceε2, so as to detect the existence of the target buried object in the ground and a buzzer 55 which receives a signal of the computing means 65 so as to report the existence of the target buried object.
