PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ITO (indium-tin-oxide) powder which has no reduction of electric conductivity with time, and to provide the ITO powder which has excellent electric conductivity. SOLUTION: In the method for producing ITO powder including a stage where mixed hydroxide obtained by mixing an acid solution containing indium salt and tin salt and an alkali solution is subjected to heating treatment, ammonia or an ammonia compound is allowed to coexist in the mixed hydroxide in the ratio of 0.1 to 5% (weight ratio based on the mass of ammonia) to the total weight of indium metal in the indium salt and tin metal in the tin salt, and, heating is performed thereto.
