PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process by which enantioselective epoxidation of anα,β-unsaturated enone and anα,β-unsaturated sulfone catalyzed by a polyamino acid can be carried out and disadvantages of variants of the Julia-Colonna epoxidation of the prior art are avoided. SOLUTION: According to this new process, theα,β-unsaturated enone or theα,β-unsaturated sulfone can be epoxidized in the presence of a water-soluble base, an oxidizing agent, a diastereomer and an enantiomer-concentrated homo- polyamino acid as a catalyst, water, an organic solvent which is immisible with the water or having only limited miscibility with the water and a special phase-transfer catalyst as a promoter in a high conversion rate and an enantiomer excess ratio. |
