PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating circulating cooling water by which sticking of slime can be effectively prevented only by changing living environment of a microorganism without using a slime control agent in an open circulating cooling water system. SOLUTION: This method for treating circulating cooling water is characterized in that the circulating cooling water is intermittently subjected to degassing treatment to alternatively give anaerobic environment and aerobic environment to the microorganism.
