PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for displaying an image for the image improved in its contrast on a low contrast display, and to provide an image display device. SOLUTION: The method for displaying the image comprises the steps of converting a bright point having a luminance change and a large luminance value in the image into a dark, conversely, converting a dark point having a luminance change and a small luminance in the image into a bright by a luminance level correcting circuit, and displaying the point having the luminance change on the bright and dark part of the image by the high brightness of the expressing capability of the display device.
