ACANTHOPANAX SENTICOSUS EXTRACT HAVING GROWTH PROMOTING EFFECT AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing an extract of Acanthopanax Senticosus(Rupr. et Maxim.) Harms showing a promotion effect on bone growth is provided. It has no toxicity and is effective in treatment and prevention of homunculus, dwarfism and failure to thrive syndrome of children and infants. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition contains an extract of Acanthopanax Senticosus(Rupr. et Maxim.) Harms. The extract is obtained by extraction with a solvent containing water, lower alcohol, hexane, ethyl acetate or a mixed solvent, concentration and freeze-drying. The extract is administered 10 to 5,000mg/kg 1 to 3 times a day. For an example, 100g Acanthopanax Senticosus is extracted in 1L ethanol for 30min using an ultrasonic wave. The extraction process is repeated two times and a final extract is concentrated under reduced pressure and freeze-dried to produce 19.3g of powder.
