PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a projection type display constituted so that pieces of information different for every optical engine are stored on the optical engine side and a driving signal to the optical engine is corrected by reading the pieces of information stored on the optical engine side. SOLUTION: A nonvolatile memory 121 is provided in the optical engine 1 and the pieces of information for every optical engine 1 required for obtaining signals for driving reflection light bulbs 111R, 111G and 111B to be mounted on the optical engine 1 are stored in the memory 121 as pieces of adjustment data. A controller board (fig. 3) reads the pieces of adjustment data from the nonvolatile memory 121 and outputs image signals compensated by using the pieces of adjustment data to the reflection light bulbs 111R, 1111G and 111B as driving signals.
