PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pedal or a rotating member from obstructing when packing or carrying, and to stabilize pedal operation at the time of using. SOLUTION: This pedal opening/closing type garbage can comprises a cover A opening/closing an opening portion 1 of a container main body 2, a rotating member B which seesaw rotates at an upper position from an install surface of a bottom surface portion of the container main body 2, a pedal C installed at a front end portion of the rotating member, and an operating rod 51 upwardly moving to open the cover A when the pedal C is depressed to rotate the rotating member. A recess 60 recessed to a back side from a front surface is provided on a lower part of a front surface of the container main body 21. The pedal C is installed to a front end portion of the rotating member B so as to be retrofitted. While the pedal C is not installed, the front end portion of the rotating member B is disposed in the recess 60 so as not to project out from the front surface of the container main body 2. While the pedal C is installed to the front end portion of the rotating member B by retrofitting, a front portion of the pedal C is projected out from the front surface of the container main body 21.
