PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting device capable of changing a holding posture of a component to be mounted and to provide a component mounting device and method for which an installation area can be reduced more than before. SOLUTION: A component supplier 40 and a component holder 110 are provided, and at the time of mounting the component, a direction of a mounting surface 8a of the component 8 facing a circuit board 1 is crossed at the time of holding the component and at the time of mounting it on the circuit board and the component is mounted on the circuit board. Thus, the component supplied in a horizontal state for instance can be mounted on the circuit board in a vertical state for instance. Thus, since the circuit board is moved in a direction orthogonal to a horizontal direction, the installation area in the horizontal direction of the component mounting device is reduced more than before. |
