PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nickel-free white copper alloy having the equal strength, hardness and ductility to German silver, with excellent workability, color fastness and whiteness, without causing nickel allergy, nor causes a malfunction of a meter in a search for remaining needles in sewn products, and provide a nickel-free white copper alloy. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises preparing an alloy indicated by CuaZnbMnc or CuaZnbMncXd (wherein, X is at least one of Al, Sn, and Ag, (a) is the balance, 0.5<=b<=35, 3<=c<=17, and 0.1<=d<=4), heating at 200-800 deg.C and cooling, to provide the nickel-free white copper alloy having magnetization intensity of 0.2 emu/g or less in a magnetic field of 18 kOe.
