PURPOSE: An array substrate for a transflective liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the yield by reducing the mask processes. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate(100) includes gate wiring and data wiring vertically crossing each other for defining pixel areas. Thin film transistors are formed on parts whether the gate wiring and the data wiring cross each other. Each thin film transistor is formed of source and drain electrodes(102,104), an active layer(110b) formed on the source and drain electrodes, and a gate electrode(118) formed on the active layer. The gate electrode is patterned and then is used as an etching stopper for patterning the active layer.
