PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a magnetic recorder, in which the ringing of a recording current waveform is reduced without delaying the speed of changeover (rise and fall) of the recording current waveform. SOLUTION: This recorder is furnished with a magnetic head 110 connected to the output of a write circuit 100, a dumping circuit 120 connected to the magnetic head 110, and an overshoot detecting circuit 130 for detecting the overshoot of terminal voltages of the magnetic head 110, then the function of the dumping circuit 120 is stopped by turning off a transistor 122 during the overshooting period in accordance with an output of the overshoot detecting operation, and for the period other than the above, the dumping circuit 120 is operated to reduce the ringing.
