The prefix of internet protocol version 6 (IPV 6) address assigned unique for each vehicle, is stored in a memory (15). A network controller (16) and processor (14) transmit the prefix to information system provided on vehicle local area network (LAN). The vehicle LAN devices generate global address using the prefix as high order bit and using interface identification (ID) generated from media access control (MAC).
