The clothing shield (1) for a wheelchair, to prevent clothing being caught in the wheels, has a frame to carry a mudguard structure with a side plate (2) and a wheel shrouding (18). The trailing section (3) of the side plate swings on an axis (4) at the frame, and the side plate is secured to the frame by an adjustable clamp (5) at a point at a gap from the swing axis. The clamp is formed by two circular disks (7,8), which clamp together through an eccentric rotation around a second swing axis (9) at the frame.
