It is possible to reduce the maximum magnetization reverse interval of a trellis code. This trellis linear diagram considers the code DSV limit condition and three−bit inter−code interference and its minimum square Euclidean distance is 4. When constituting a non−interleave type coding unit and a non−deinterleave type code sensing unit by using this trellis linear diagram, it is possible to make the maximum magnetization reverse interval of the trellis code used to 1/2 of the conventional one while maintaining the error rate and the circuit size almost identical to the conventional ones. However, this trellis linear diagram is a two−bit basic repetition unit and this trellis linear diagram is used repeatedly in an actual apparatus. The present invention can be applied to a recording/reproduction apparatus.
