The assembly to apply glue to corrugated cardboard (1), to bond a corrugated layer to a smooth layer, has an application roller (3) to deposit glue on the corrugation peaks. The glue is sprayed on to the roller surface on a horizontal plane at the roller entry side (III,IV), from a spray beam (4). The width of the glue spray is set by sensors which monitor the edges of the corrugated cardboard web. Residual glue remaining on the roller surface is scraped off at the return side (I,II) of the roller, to be cleaned and recycled.
