New naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarbobisimides (I) are 2 and/or 6-substituted with amino, (substituted) alkylamino or (substituted) alkoxy group(s). New naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarbobisimides of formula (I) are 2 and/or 6-substituted with amino, (substituted) alkylamino or (substituted) alkoxy group(s). R<1>, R<2> = H or optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; X, Y = amino, -NHR<3> or -OR<3> in one or both cases, otherwise H or halogen; R<3> = -CH2R<4>, -CHR<4>R<5> or CR<4>R<5>R<6>; R<4>, R<5>, R<6> = H or optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, alkylthio, aryloxy or arylthio.
