An electrical appliance 3 comprising a main body 1 and a removable power source 5 which is attached to the main body during use of the appliance. The power source includes a catch member 9 which engages with the main body and also including a catch release member 17 which, when actuated, releases the catch member from the main body to allow removal of the power source. Actuation of the catch release member is achieved by pulling the catch release member in substantially the same direction as that in which the power source is pulled to effect its removal from the main body. The device is particularly applicable to cordless power tools and is designed to make the removal of the power source a one-step procedure. The catch member may be pivoted 15 and resiliently biased 13. The catch release member may form the handle of the power supply 7. |
