<p>A method for assessing the presence of undesirable phases in a steel sample. An anodising current is applied to the sample such that the sample is exposed to an anodising potential. The rate of increase in the anodising potential is monitored, a relatively low rate of increase in the anodising potential indicating the presence of undesirable phases. The sample may be passivated before the anodising current is applied.</p> |
