PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a fixing device capable of improving the uniformity of temperature when attaining fixing feasible temperature from a standby state and making high-speed rise compatible with low power consumption and space saving while restraining heat loss in a time required to shift to a fixing feasible state. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a fixing roller consisting of a hollow cylinder, a heating means for heating the hollow cylinder, a heat insulating means having heat insulating action, preventing the heat of the hollow cylinder generated by the heating means from being conducted from both ends in the shaft direction of the hollow cylinder to the outside of the fixing roller and making heat distribution in the shaft direction of the hollow cylinder uniform, and a pressure roller installed to press-contact with the fixing roller.
