PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projecting light source, a projecting light source lighting device, a projecting light device, and a projector, having a small size and preventing the obstruction of distribution of light by a mark of a lamp. SOLUTION: This projecting light source is composed of a bulb 6 made of quartz glass; a pair of electrode shafts 7, 8; a pair of electrodes 9, 10; and a discharge medium 11. The bulb 6 has an intermediate part 13 having a discharge space 12 and a pair of sealing parts 14, 15 unitedly formed at the both ends of the intermediate part 13. A mark 16a is indicated in the sealing part embedded in the neck part of reflector 5.
