PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent image data recording device and an image data recording method that can efficiently record full size image data and zoom image data. SOLUTION: The image data recording device is characterized in comprising a designation means 11 or designating a range in at least one frame of first image data to obtain second image data; a conversion means 6 that conducts down sampling processing to reduce pixel data corresponding to pixels of the first image data; a recording means 12 that respectively records the first image data converted by the conversion means 6 and the second image data obtained by the designation means 11 onto first and second areas on recording media 17, 18; and a synchronization information recording means 12 that attaches synchronization information to the first and second image data so as to synchronize each frame of the first and second image data and records the resulting data to the recording media.
