PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the forgery of an information recording card by enciphering data to be used for authentication in a card authentication system. SOLUTION: In the card authentication system composed of the information recording card storing identification data for identifying a user and a first cryptographic key and an authentication terminal, which has a connection part capable of loading this information recording card, for outputting an authentication request to the information recording card, the authentication terminal transmits an authentication request containing a second cryptographic key generated at random through the connection part to the information recording card and afterwards, in response to the authentication request, the information recording card enciphers the identification data a plurality of times by using the first and second cryptographic keys and returns data for authentication generated by such enciphering processing to the connection part of the authentication terminal. |
