PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of reading with visible and invisible light at a single reading, and capable of detecting detailed defective pixels without lowering reading speed. SOLUTION: Related to a line CCD sensor 30, a line CCD 30 sensor 30A for visible light and a line CCD sensor 30IR for infrared ray (IR light) are provided on a stage 78. The line CCD sensor 30A for visible light is provided with each single line of a line CCD sensor 30R for R light, line CCD sensor 30G for G light, and line CCD sensor 30B for B light, and is also provided with two lines of line CCD sensors 30IR for IR light. The line sensor 30A for visible light is provided with color decomposition filters 84R, 84G, and 84B which decompose light into three primary colors (R, G, and B), and is also provided with an IR cut filter 86 which shields IR light.
