<p>The cement restricter (14, 19) is used in joint or bone prosthesis (16) implantation. A hollow substantially spheroidal seal (1) is adapted to be inserted into an elongate cavity formed in a bone (13) and is deformable in situ into a substantially oblate spheroidal form to engage sealingly the walls of the cavity. A distal end (7) of the seal (1) is pulled by draw member (2, 4) towards the open end of the cavity, and thereby axially compresses the seal (1) to urge it towards the oblate form. The seal (1) can be locked in sealing disposition by means of ratchets (10, 11) at the proximal end of the seal (1).</p> |
