Apparatus for detecting luminescence from micro-arrays, comprising: (a) directing a white light beam from a lamp (1) at the micro-array (5) by an optical imaging system (4); and (b) focusing the fluorescence emitted from the micro-array at a detector (7) by an optical detection system (6), where it is digitized, is new. Apparatus for detecting luminescence from micro-arrays, comprising: (a) directing a white light beam from a lamp (1) at the micro-array (5) by an optical imaging system (4); and (b) focusing the fluorescence emitted from the micro-array at a detector (7) by an optical detection system (6), where it is digitized, is new. The measured light signals are corrected at each point of the detector, and the illuminated micro-array surface is matched exactly to the image surface at the detector.
