<p>A personal aircraft (PAC) capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) comprises a fixed wing (134) and a fuselage (132) with a passenger compartment. The fuselage also includes thrusters wich may be independently powered and integrated into the wing on each side of the fuselage. The thrusters are ducted fan units and provide vertical thrust and the ability to hover with one unit malfunctioning. At least one thruster on each side of the fuselage includes a 'levitator' which creates lift from the airfoil-shaped air inlet as well as from the acceleration from the air outlet.</p> |
