A GARMENT FOR ATTACHING ELECTRODES TO A SUBJECT

A garment (1) for carrying flexible electrode pads (2) for applying electrical pulsed signals to a subject for stimulating nerves associated with the hamstring muscles, the glutei muscle group and the quadriceps muscles. The electrode pads (2) are carried on carrier pads (10) which are secured to the garment (1) along securing seams (13). The electrode pads (2) are provided with front and rear self-adhesive coated surfaces (36, 37) respectively, for adhering the electrode pads (2) to the carrier pads (10) and to the subject. Side wings (15) on the respective opposite sides of the securing seams (13) are flexible and free to move relative to the garment (1) for accommodating relative movement of the garment (1) to the skin of the subject without causing disengagement of the electrode pads (2) from the skin of the subject, and also for minimising drag between the electrode pads (2) and the skin. Electrically conductive contact discs (18) carried on the carrier pad (10) are electrically connected by internal wiring to a receiving bracket (9) for a signal generator (8) for applying signals to the electrode pads (2). Longitudinal slits (42) in leg portions (6) of the garment (1) facilitate folding front and rear portions (43, 44) of the garment (1) away from the subject for facilitating removing and replacing a protective cover (38) over the front self-adhesive surfaces (36) of the electrode pads (2) after the garment (1) has been pulled up onto the subject.
