A coating composition capable of giving a coating film which contains a fluoropolymer and which has improved adhesion to iron and stainless steel, can retain this adhesion even at high temperatures, and has excellent heat resistance. The coating composition comprises a terminal-modified polyarylene sulfide resin and a fluoropolymer, the terminal-modified polyarylene sulfide resin having at a polymer end a group represented by the following general formula 1: -Ar-Y 1 wherein Ar represents arylene and Y represents -SH or hydrogen.
