In a process to clean effluent industrial air, the air passes through a reactor chamber (12) in which it is admixed with ozone especially supplied to the chamber in which the gases are exposed to ultra-violet radiation in the presence of supplementary moisture. An Independent claim is also included for an assembly in which nitric oxide is also introduced into or is generated within the reactor chamber. After use, residual ozone is broken down. The assembly has an external ozone generator (14).
