BACK LIGHT FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light for liquid crystal display which is thin and light in weight and is capable of efficiently performing light emission to the pixels of a liquid crystal display machine and reducing the electric power consumption. SOLUTION: This back light for the liquid crystal display machine is formed of an organic electroluminescence element 1. The organic electroluminescence element 1 is formed of a plurality of light emitting element segments 8 of which the light emitting section is divided in positions corresponding to non-display sections 14 between the pixels 13 of the liquid crystal display machine 10. The light emitted from the light emitting segment 8 of the organic EL element 1 transmit the segments of the pixels 13 of the liquid crystal display machine 10 by which the liquid crystal display is performed. The non-display sections 14 which do not allow the transmission of the light between the pixels 13 can be so formed that these sections are not irradiated with the light from the light emitting element segment 8 as far as possible.
