PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a ductile cast iron which has high strength and high corrosion resistance, and is suitable for various piping materials to be used under corrosive environment such as an underground buried pipe. SOLUTION: This ductile cast iron having high strength and high corrosion resistance has a composition containing, by weight, 3.0 to 4.0% C, 1.0 to 4.0% Si, <=0.6% Mn, 0.02 to 0.08% Mg and 0.05 to 0.5% Co, and, containing Cu and/or Cr by 0.2 to 0.8% in total, and the balance substantially Fe. If required, the ductile cast iron can contain 0.1 to 1.5% Ni.
