PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATR (autothermal reforming) method and an apparatus for producing hydrogen able to perform stably a reaction in a long term and a fuel cell system superior in stability. SOLUTION: The ATR method is comprised of a step to contact a material to be treated which contains a hydrocarbon compound family, oxygen and steam with a solid super-strong acid catalyst and a step to make the material treated with the above step contact with a catalyst containing at least a kind of VIII group metals selected from among Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir and Pt. The ATR apparatus is comprised of the solid super-strong acid catalyst placed at an upstream side and the catalyst placed at a downstream side and containing the VIII group metal. The apparatus for producing hydrogen is equipped with the ATR apparatus. The fuel cell system is comprised of the apparatus for producing hydrogen and the fuel cell. |
