PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, at a low cost, an aluminum nitride powder capable of obtaining its sintered compact having a high thermal conductivity. SOLUTION: A method for producing this aluminum nitride powder comprises heat treating the powdery mixture of an aluminum nitride raw material powder and 1-15 pts.wt. of a carbonaceous substance based on 100 pts.wt. of the raw material powder at 1,600-1,850 deg.C in a non-oxidative atmosphere and then heat treating at 600-800 deg.C in an oxidative atmosphere. |
